  • Robert M. Jaffe, Executive Chairman

    Robert M. Jaffe has served as chairman of the board of directors of A-Life since September 2002. 

    Jaffe co-founded Sorrento Associates, Inc., in 1985.  Previously, he was an investment banker at Merrill Lynch Capital Markets, Salomon Brothers, Inc. and Goldman, Sachs & Co.  In these roles, Jaffe had responsibilities for mergers and acquisitions and public offerings of high technology companies.  He was also a member of the technical staff at Hughes Aircraft Company and a consultant at McKinsey & Co. 

    Jaffe received a Master’s degree in business administration from the Harvard Business School where he was a Baker Scholar, the School's highest academic honor.  He graduated with a Master of Science degree as a Hughes Fellow from The California Institute of Technology in Electrical Engineering, and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (Summa Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa) from The University of California at Berkeley.

  • James T. Callier, Jr., Director

    James T. Callier, Jr. has been a director of A-Life since December 1997. 

    He is the founder, president and chief executive officer of Callier Interests, an investment company that specializes in leveraged buy-out acquisitions and turnaround management.  Since 1982, he has been involved as a principal in twelve acquisitions with aggregate sales of $4 billion.  Callier was also one of three founding members of Wingate Partners, which acquired Redman Industries, Century Products, Loomis Armored (now Loomis Fargo), Redman Building Products, and United Stationers.  As a private investor, he completed buy-outs of multiple companies with annual revenues totaling $400 million. 

    Callier is a graduate of Vanderbilt University and holds a Master’s degree in business administration from the Harvard Business School.

  • Jaye Connolly, Director

    Jaye Connolly has served as corporate secretary since August 2007 and as board of director since April 2010.

    Connolly possesses extensive finance and acquisition experience having served in key roles at six publicly traded corporations as well as at start-up entities.  Throughout this time she also garnered significant IPO experience.  During her career, she led 18 accretive acquisitions adding more than $1.0 billion to revenue.  For more than 25 years, Connolly demonstrated leadership across a variety of roles spanning the healthcare sector including those in diagnostic imaging, clinical laboratory, physician practice management and hospital services.  Before joining A-Life Medical, Connolly served as vice president of business development/mergers and acquisitions at InSight Health Corp. and director of internal audit at Laboratory Corp. of America, where she successfully implemented the corporate wide compliance, audit and ethics program.   

    In 2009, she was named CFO of the Year in the private company category by the San Diego Business Journal.

    Connolly holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Texas Tech University.

  • Frank Baker, Director

    Frank Baker has served on the ALH board since May 2009.

    Frank Baker is a managing director and co-founder of S.A.C. Private Capital Group (SAC PCG) and a member of the board of directors for MedQuist. Prior to establishing SAC PCG in 2007, he was a managing director at Ripplewood Holdings LLC (Ripplewood) and RHJ International, where he was responsible for making various private equity investments and taking RHJ International public on the Brussels Stock Exchange. He joined Ripplewood’s New York office in 1999 and transferred to Ripplewood Japan Inc. in 2002. Prior to joining Ripplewood, he spent more than three years in investment banking as an associate at J.P. Morgan Securities Inc. in the Capital Markets Group and as an analyst at Goldman Sachs & Co. in the Mergers and Acquisitions Group.

    Baker holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Chicago and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

    Jaye Connolly has served as corporate secretary since August 2007 and as board of director since April 2010.
